How to celebrate events during Covid-19!

Even though Covid-19 continues to be a regular part of our lives, that doesn’t mean celebrations need to stop! With the festive season around the corner, we all now have to think of new and innovative ways to celebrate them! Since restrictions are now easing up, you can now celebrate festivals with your near and dear ones, making gatherings more intimate.

Have a celebration with your close relatives and family members, while of course maintaining social distance and wearing a mask. The fun part is, you can match your mask with your outfit! Have a potluck, with every guest bringing in a special dish.

For those who can’t make it they’re just one video call away! By fixing a time convenient for all, you can plan a meal with your friends and family who are unable to make it! Don’t forget to dress up a bit, it’s a celebration after all.
You needn’t worry about where you get the décor for your celebration, as restrictions continue, it may be difficult to get all the same décor the way you used to. So, if you can’t buy it, make it!

Here are 5 easy DIY festive decorations for you:

1. Bangle/Bracelet lantern

All you need is a bit of hot glue, and old bangles or some bracelets. We all have some old bangles and bracelets lying around that we have either outgrown or no longer like. It’s heartbreaking to have to throw them away. So instead of doing that use it to create the most festive yet aesthetic lantern. All you have to do is, stack the bracelets in a manner that pleases you, and then all you have to do is glue it together. You can put it on top of a bulb or put some fairy lights inside, and there you have it!

2. Bangle Wreath

We all have bangles we have outgrown or just no longer like wearing. So why can’t we make some fun wall hangings out of those very bangles? All you need is some string and a whole lot of bangles. Start stringing your bangles on the ribbon or string of your choice, and when you’re satisfied with the amount, tie the two ends of the string together. Make sure you keep the string short, so you can get the perfect circular shape. Find a place on your wall to hang your new wreath!

3. Ice lantern

Now this may sound a little odd, but it’s absolutely beautiful. You will need some water, a plastic cup, and a tea candle. Fill the small plastic cup with water, and then put in the plastic container which is also filled with water. Put it inside the freezer and let it freeze overnight. If the temperatures outside your home are bellowing freezing then you go on ahead and leave it outside. Unmold it by running some warm water over and around the plastic container and cup. Drop your candle in and there you have it! Please remember that the ice may crack and do not leave the candle unattended!

4. Snowflake Curtains

Now we all love a little bit of snow. So why not create a decoration that looks like it’s snowing all the time? All you need is access to a printer, several sheets of white paper, scissors, a heavy book, transparent tape, and a little bit of string. Go online and print out various designs of snowflakes and print them out. Once that’s done, start cutting! As you get done with the cutting, there will be instructions on how to fold the paper and we’re back to cutting, do it and you have your beautiful snowflakes. Flatten it out with the heavy book. Once that’s done, all you need to do is tape them or string them as you please and hang them on your window

5. Metallic words

No matter what festival you’re celebrating, using metallic paper cut-outs to jazz up your home. All you need is loads of metallic paper, the colour depends upon your liking, some tape, and a ribbon. Depending upon the festival, let’s take the example of Christmas, cut out the saying of your choice. Merry Christmas would look fab hanging over the wall of your choice. Once you are done cutting out the saying, tape it to the ribbon of your choice and hang it up!

These are simple and inexpensive DIY tricks that can help you make your home space one of a kind. Now that we have some free time on your hands, you can take this time to get your creative juices flowing!
