Let us put a healthy spin on the new transition of the calendar page? For it’s never too early-or too late-to start fresh and break with unhealthy habits.
With the spread of the pandemic across the globe, people were encouraged to get into a better lifestyle as a means to fend off its spread. This also led to changes in the daily routine of many including working from home or at coffee shops, shifting some activities outdoors, running errands on bikes and scooters instead of getting caught in traffic jams which all helped contribute to a healthier nation.
As India was hit by a second wave of this pandemic in 2021, people started to be empathetic towards each other during this shared tragedy and began adopting more health-conscious habits only for the purpose of staying healthy. In these changing times, we adopted over time — coming up with new ways of thinking about what’s going into our bodies every day like eating out less and cooking from scratch.
As 2022 has arrived with new opportunities, let’s see what changes you need to make this year to keep up with the new lifestyle.
1. Embrace the nature you are surrounded by: We do find it necessary to remind you that it’s important to protect mother nature- the one that protects us in return. We all have seen first-hand what can happen when we fail to appreciate the importance of preserving the environment and allowing nature to flourish. This is a lesson that each one of us must carry with us beyond this holiday season and every day no matter where we go, someone should always give back somehow to protect our ecosystem.
2. Have a routine you can follow: A routine is an important component of life. It increases productivity, purpose, and a sense of accomplishment in life. In the wake of an imposed lockdown or impending disaster, it’s necessary to establish a comforting routine while addressing the challenges ahead both personally and collectively. A strong personal routine helps build consistency and stability in one’s environment and impacts their immediate surroundings making them less stressful and more effective.
3. Try out flexible careers with the gig economy: Job insecurity has become a huge problem for many people these days. Many unemployed college graduates are resorting to working with freelance sites, where they can pick up short-term jobs that suit their skills.
One thing you need to keep in mind is that technology has placed us on the cusp of a ‘gig economy.’ This means that those who find themselves unemployed or under-employed will have access to new resources and be able to find work on their own terms, instead of giving up on careers altogether. Don’t forget that as an entrepreneur, technology has made it easier than ever before!
4. Maintain your close relationships: One important thing the pandemic has taught us is the value of our friends, loved ones and colleagues. Even though people were in lockdown and isolated from one another, social relationships became more meaningful once the plague was unleashed upon us. This is why nurturing these relationships becomes an important task to perform in order to build a social and emotional support system. Doing this will help us build emotional resilience, which means hope when we’re faced with situations where we’re dealing with uncertainty.
5. Keep your mental and emotional health in check: Another aspect that is imperative to consider is one’s own mental and emotional health. There will be times when things might not go as you planned and your mind might end up in a negative spiral of thoughts. When this happens you need to understand what’s going on so you can make sure to handle yourself accordingly by identifying those thought processes and then making sure that whatever hobby or activity you do next, helps divert your attention from these negative thoughts.
Conclusion:
As humans, we like the concept of starting over. Just as the four seasons work in seasonal cycles, falling leaves change and new growth resumes, so do our mindsets. The level of readiness has everything to do with it. The new year gives us a clean slate to work with and a greater sense of clarity.
There is a certain level of determination we all need in order to embrace change more readily. The New Year gives us a clean slate to work with- and greater clarity. Most of us make resolutions around this time. So why not put a healthy spin on the turning of the calendar page? Resolve isn’t too early or too late, but today would be great.
