Want to Know the Top Traits of World Women Leaders? How Do They Excel in Their Leadership? Here are The Top 10 Traits of An Efficient Woman Leader.

When I, you or anyone wanted to look for a female role model, sadly, we found a few. We had to manage with only a few women professionals to get inspiration from or just admire or emulate.

Do you notice the use of past tense in my sentences? Yes, things are changing and we have quite many women at the zenith of success in professional lines as well, not to forget their iron-willed emotional victories.

Successful women don’t achieve things in life because they happen to stumble over a “lucky break” in their path. Their hard work and the right balance between their intellectual and emotional quotient makes them the ace in leadership.

Let’s see what are the top leadership qualities that women have in common which makes them just the right fit for leadership in every walk of life:

Commitment: When women leaders take control of things, they make it their personal agenda to achieve it in every possible sense.

The fortitude that is required to stick to a cause is found in every efficient leader but women leaders will trade their sleep to get their work done. No kidding! I say it from personal experience.

In the light of perseverance, women tend to be better leaders as they welcome new opportunities and explore different possibilities to get their tasks done.

Communication: The importance of communication needs no mention if one wants to become a leader; but how well does one communicate? Communication is a two-way process; one has to speak and the other person is expected to listen and understand.

Many times, we see that employees aren’t able to open up in the fear of being judged. Employees tend to disconnect themselves from their peers. The consequences can be as bad as a poor mental health graph of a company’s employees.

With women supervisors, onboard the employees can feel more comfortable sharing their emotional problems which will lead to a sound working environment.

If you aren’t able to laugh, cry, speak what you opine, or ask for help, then honestly, you need to find yourself a new workspace that accepts your vulnerabilities as well.

Creative: The talent pool of women doesn’t know any boundary. Women aren’t uptight if they are given the opportunities to learn new things even if it demands help from their juniors.

A good leader thinks imaginatively and welcomes discoveries and unconventional ways to tackle situations.

Break the ‘rules’ if the circumstances need to be so; and I quote Laurel Thatcher Ulrich to support my stand, “well-behaved women seldom make history.”

Courage/Risk-taking factor: Good leaders are gutsy and are ready to take risks. Historically women aren’t appreciated or encouraged to take risky steps in challenging situations. If their plan works out, it is belittled as a lucky guess!

However, as a leader, you have got to remain unbothered by these stereotypical criticisms and must welcome challenging situations and ways to handle problems.

Stay there with courage, undaunted as a woman leader to let them know that your “lucky guesses” were your courageous tactics.

Nurturing/Caring instincts: A woman is either uptight or too soft. From being branded as emotional creatures to being too soft at heart; people tend to misunderstand women’s caring nature with them being lackadaisical and unable to call out people who aren’t doing their job.

The world needs to work on their dictionary but you don’t have to pay heed to any of these. Be savage but never lose what you stand for.

Empathy: No leader can be a great leader without mastering soft skills. And I don’t need to emphasize the empathetic trait of women, do I?

An interpersonal skill, empathy ensures better cooperation and promotes a good communication habit.

Characteristically taken as a feminine trait, The Wall Street Journal has shown that corporates have begun to give empathy training and have made it a crucial trait for leaders and supervisors.

Resilience: In the face of calamity, a woman bounces back quickly and a study has reported that women have the ability to move past the stress more quickly.

Not that I am generalizing it under any socio-typical brackets but women do handle things in a better way.
Being resilient gives a leader the power to handle calamities and is a mandatory trait to bring in practice for a leader.

Ladies, these qualities are required in every good leader irrespective of their gender. Historically, these traits had been categorized as exclusively feminine except for a few. However, these qualities shared broadly by women make us into a better leader any day!
