Four DIY photography hacks, that help any budding photographer improve their work!
Aesthetic Aesthetic Aesthetic! That’s all we think about nowadays. Wherever we go, we pick the right place for us. Photography as becoming a medium through which we now are to preserve memories. When they say a photograph speaks a thousand words they are right. We now have the phones that take pictures for us that previously needed large DSLRs.
Even though some say you need to be a professional to take a picture. We don’t believe that. Instead, we like to follow the policy of practice makes perfect. We all have an aesthetic sense that differs from others, but with our camera phones in our hands, we are photographers at heart.
You don’t have to be a professional photographer and have a studio, to do an impromptu photoshoot. There are some great DIY digital photography hacks that can use to get a perfect aesthetic shoot. The simple thing you find around your homes can be used:
DIY Photography Tricks
Magnifying Glass
A magnifying glass you used in school can be used to make a shoot fun.
Make your own Background
You don’t need to go to a pretty setting, you can make one. There are simple ways to build your perfect background, by changing the angles of the shot, by framing what you wanted to do while taking into consideration where you are, you can get your perfect shot.
There are DIY tricks and hacks, that can save you a lot of money, but get you the perfect shot. You can create your own lightbox! It's pretty simple all you need to do is take a sheet of paper and tape it, in front of a window, then you can put your subject in front of the paper, and there you have it. A perfect shot.
Bokeh Effect!
For our next photography hack, you’ll need a DSLR camera, a lens with a large aperture (small F-stop number) and a bit of knowledge about bokeh photography A piece of black paper, Pencil, A pair of scissors, Duct tape, Craft knife to make different shapes. Also, put on some Christmas light as if it was that time of the year.
Make a round tube that fits nicely to your lens, and connect it to the lens. On the other end of the tube, attach your cut paper as shown in the 2nd photo below. Then use a low aperture setting (for bokeh) and shoot in manual focus mode towards your light source through the cutout holes/shapes. You’ll need to adjust the focus ring to get the desired bokeh effect/shapes.
Who knew a tea strainer, could be used to get a perfect artsy shot? We all have tea strainers at home, if we place the tea strainer in front of the lens and the subject behind it, you get the perfect textured images.
Muslin Cloth for a soft effect
Simple things like a muslin cloth and sand which bag or zip lock and be used to cover the lens to get a nice soft image shot.
The best part about the photography hacks are that they’re inexpensive. These are things that we all have in our homes. In and around. All these tricks are DIY. You can teach yourself these little tricks and improve your skills. Nothing is impossible!
