Coronavirus Gives Out Cues on How to Combat Climatic Changes!

Mother Nature Makes a Comeback: Positives in The Times of Coronavirus!

The times we’re living in is what all of us once dreamt of. It’s a long vacation where we’re working on and off. But, oh wait? Is THIS what we actually dreamt of?

The truth dear is that the balloon of reality is a whole lot different from what we wanted.

We’re humans and we surely have no boundaries to our desires. Times, when we wanted a holiday so bad, aren’t long lost. Remember peer-talks swaying from “How to get a life in-between work?” and “When is the next holiday due?!”

Yet we’re here, mourning, speculating and procrastinating about how our future lives will be!

Ever thought of living a life this way? Locked up for safety and imprisoned in the cocoon of uncertainty, wondering when will the dawn of freedom knock our doors yet again and we’ll all be free elves?

It’s interesting to observe how the world has its own strange ways of making up for mother nature. Sadly enough, revenge has its own sweet taste and we have to bear its consequences. What we’ve done with animals: our poor fellow living beings is what has now befallen upon us.

Let’s sit back, ponder upon and try to calculate the enormous damage we have done to our surroundings and our beloved planet.

I bet most of you right now look back and think of the kind of selfish human race we have been. WE ALL have caused what we can be sure of is irrevocable! Sigh!

Here’s a chance for us to redeem our sins for real.

Coronavirus, the deadly virus we all resent, is what nature must have fallen in love with!

I mean the ways in which climate has changed and the amount of recovery nature has made, speaks volumes about the positive effects of COVID-19 on nature. Cheers!

Well, here’s the list of climatic changes for you peeps to keep calm and take pride in sitting back comfortably in your couches:

1. To our relief, the quality of air has shown some HUGE improvement and our lungs for the first time in YEARS are relieved from the excessive air of pollution we sadly offer them! With most vehicles off the road, factories on pause and plane-free skies, we have entered a relatively safer zone and the world has witnessed a chunk of the drop in air pollution.

2. Guess what? Waters are clean once again, Yay! I’m not kidding when I say that dolphins are back in the waters of Venice and across the globe with us terrified and locked-up inside! The waters in canals and oceans are cleaner than they’ve been in living memory. With motorboats grounded and water sports off the shore, a variety of fishes too can be seen all across! Did I mention I’m already smiling?

3. We’re saving on natural resources! There’s a marked drop in the consumption and damage caused to and by resources like coal, oil and other minerals. Not only is this improving air quality in the regions affected, but it is reducing the number of airborne pollutants. So, there’s a reason for you to cherish this moment, my quarantined companion!

4. To our awe, WILDLIFE roams in the cities around the world and are reclaiming public spaces again. The now-quiet streets are taken over by animals and they seem busy exploring the human world! For this peaceful reclamation, all it took was 10 days of human-lockdown. Perhaps it’s nature’s way to give back to our fellow beings what we have forcibly taken away from them. Right?

I’m sure you must have seen videos and images on your phone screens amid your times of boredom. Here’s one to bring a wide smile on your face!

5. For all beautiful ENVIRONMENTALISTS here, the good news is the reduction in Co2 and No2 emissions! I’m sure you know these monsters well and realise what great news this is. We’re all aware what carbon-di-oxide does to us and our planet. With a 36% drop in air pollution, are we good-to-go for a quarantined celebration? LOL. I mean, we all can see blue skies for real now.

We can help prevent future crisis if we are prepared and honestly, there are some big-picture lessons from COVID-19 that could be very useful. This pandemic MUST make companies and governments realize that other threats to humanity, including climate change, could be just as devastating and that it’s imperative to develop protective measures.

As we move to restart these economies, we need to use this moment to think about what we value, do we want to go back to the status quo, or do we want to tackle these big structural problems, restructure our economy and reduce emissions and pollution?

Your little efforts can make a huge difference to the world we occupy a tiny space in. I believe in being that little extra which is the difference between the ordinary and the extraordinary! Do you?
