There has been an increase in fear and anxiety among adults and children with the outbreak of the pandemic Covid-19.
It is very natural to get worried about the well-being of our loved ones when there is a danger to the entire world because of a highly contagious virus- Coronavirus. One can get easily stressed out about their health and the health of their loved ones.
We tend to lose track of time and often don’t keep our daily routine in check. It becomes necessary to stay productive and care for each other.
Here are a few ways which can help you take care of your mental health and the well-being of your loved ones:
#1. Call a friend
It is that time of the year when you can take out your directory, dust off the cover page and phone that friend with who you used to share your lunchbox! It’s always good to remember the good old days and laugh over silly mistakes and punishments that we all experienced in our childhood.
I would take advantage of this moment and would like to remind you that social distancing does not imply social disconnection! Keep connected to your loved ones and call them!
#2. Cry it out
I understand that sometimes we cannot get hold of what is going on with us and the world. All we want is to let it out, vent out the stress. Do that!
You want to shed few tears, cry but don’t hold it inside. I have been there, done that. Crying can make you feel a little better and if not in tears then we can obviously pester our best friend and rant, right?
#3. Music
No matter whether you are a heavy metal fan or prefer Bollywood songs, try listening to music. It helps calm down as we get carried away with the vibes. So, keep calm and listen to Diljit Dosanjh! (Diljit Dosanjh is a Punjabi singer based out of Punjab, India.)
Stay at home and have your own personalized fun in your private space.
#4. Work-out
Trust me, we all have related to the meme where everyone is worried about getting on a few extra pounds while we work from home while maintaining social distancing and quarantining ourselves! We don’t want that, right?
Staying physically fit highly affects our mental health as the saying goes, “A healthy mind stays in a healthy body”. So, pick a work our routine and sweat the stress out!
#5. Try to spend some me-time. It’s okay.
While we all are locked in with our families for 24*7, we are more than happy ever. However, it may occur at some points that we feel overwhelmed being crowded with people. It’s okay. Happens. You must not feel guilty about it.
Try to spend some quality time with yourself; read, cook, take a walk in your balcony or just be! You don’t have to do something necessarily to feel yourself. After some quarantined me-time, you can again happily participate in family fun.
#6. Work on your hobbies
Now that we all are fighting coronavirus and are working for home because we have to maintain physical distancing, we have a few extra hours at our hands.
Use them wisely. You wanted to make one-pot pasta as they do in TVs, try it out. It’ll be judicious ration-wise and fun too. Or you could learn how to play HAPPY BIRTHDAY and impress your crush/ partner!
#7. Learn a skill and unlearn stress
Anyone in this world would prefer to learn a new skill rather than getting stress; majorly because mental well-being is important for all. So, rather than sinking down by constantly thinking about the coronavirus outbreak, we shall hone one skill in the lockdown period!
I am from India and my entire country has gone into lockdown. And I have started to learn how to do online marketing and I am loving it already!
When all of this ends and we get on track with the world economy I am going to ask for a raise from my boss. LOL. C’mon, I have got one extra amazing skill; I need a raise! Don’t miss the chance, learn the skill of your career interest.
Let us beat out coronavirus and the stress circling around it. We can do better. We will fight it together. We have got to keep ourselves healthy-mentally and physically both.
Stay calm. Stay home. Stay safe. Stay quarantined.
But also,
Stay happy. Stay positive. Stay healthy. Stay sassy!
With love and hope,
