Small adjustments can make a huge difference when it comes to being kind to the environment. There is also a benefit for us if we choose to implement those changes in our day to day lives! Fewer expenses in the present and more savings for the future! It’s indeed a win-win situation for the environment as well as us.

We are not going to discuss any DIY techniques here. Instead, it’s as simple as wearing the same piece of clothing for the second time! If that’s something which isn’t hard for you to do, the steps mentioned below are just as easy!

So here are 5 amazing ideas to care for your surroundings and be mindful at the same time.

Switch To Paperless and Go Digital

It’s understandable if you have a school/college project to submit, or a thesis to write. But in case you happen to be a student or a working professional who takes down a lot of notes then consider carrying a laptop, iPad, or a tablet for that matter. If you are a reader consider using kindle or any e-reader apps available.

There is absolutely no harm in trying to go paperless. Try making notes digitally, try keeping your to-do’s on your phone rather than on your sticky notes or a diary.

Have study materials that can be easily downloaded, encourage professors and teachers to share notes over the emails instead of wasting tons and tons of paper in printing.

Use Paper Only When There’s An Emergency

Yes, we just asked about going digital. However, we do also understand, eliminating the use of paper is not something that would get possible overnight. We still need quick access to pen and paper to scribble anything important down. But the best way to use paper is when we fully utilize it and don’t end up wasting it; using both sides of the paper.

If you are the one who prefers to write in a physical notebook and loves the feel and texture of any manuscript, you don’t have to give away that practice. However, you can consider having one fat binder instead of separate notebooks for separate subjects if you’re a student. Divide it into parts if that’s required.

The idea is not to totally quit using paper but trying to minimize its usage in the best possible manner.

Stop Throwing Away Stuff, Instead, Reuse Them

Won’t advise you to recycle, because who are we kidding, are we too lazy to do so. But please, go ahead and recycle if you are considerate about the environment. But for the ones who cannot recycle, can 100% reuse stuff! Anything that you feel can be reused, should be reused. It’s a sign of wit and also saves you money!

This does not mean you are being unreasonable, it just means you care about the environment enough to reuse things and evade any piling of trash.

There are tons of items that can be used over and over again. It can be paper or plastic bags that you can take to grocery shopping, glass jars which can be used as a pot to grow a plant, and instead of paper towels, you can start buying cloth towels so that you can wash it and use it again instead of throwing it away.

Go For Second Hand Goodies Once In a While

You might not be comfortable wearing second-hand clothes but what about accessories like scarves, bags, shoes and even gadgets! It’s alright to make second-hand purchases once in a while, especially for something which you get bored of way too soon.

Make thoughtful decisions and ask yourself, “is it truly something which I would use for more than six months or even a year?”, if not, go ahead buy it from eBay and later when it’s of no good, dispose it off or re-sell it further.

Cut Down On Electricity Consumption

The same tactic can be applied when you decide to go for furniture or even home-decor shopping. Also, discarding second-hand goods won’t hurt that much!

Well, there are a lot of smart ways of bringing down your electricity expenses. Turn off the lights when not in use, simple! Use bulbs that save more energy and replace them with your regular tube lights. Whenever feasible, use natural light and lastly, get rid of the desktop, and switch to laptops.

Summing It Up

Also, avoid long showers, don’t neglect to turn off the tap while brushing or shaving. Fix the tap which keeps dripping 24*7.

Here are a few baby steps you can take to show some kindness to the environment. It’s just a matter of implementing them. Go ahead and do your bit, starting right now! Even the tiniest of the things we do make a lot of difference.

Also, share these tips with your near and dear to make them aware of these remarkable ways.

There is nothing wrong with making such wise changes to your lifestyle and still being able to relish all the luxuries.
