It’s true; some of the greatest inspirations come from the greatest stories. So here we are with a list of best sitcoms with powerful female characters who are widely loved by the audience on a global level. Check out the list and mark them as your next watch if you haven’t already!

1. The Mindy Project

Mindy Kaling, who is the protagonist of the show, is a woman whose character is somewhat contagious in a way that she is so full of life and can never be seen “not happy.” She is chubby, not white and a woman! Most people might think these reasons are enough to demean a woman unless they meet Mindy! She needs no one to give her a reality check as she does that for her own self. Mindy makes it a point to never take criticism on a personal level if it hinders her growth. Mindy is the kind who teaches us to simply love ourselves to the fullest!

2. Suits

Jessica Pearson, one of the strongest characters in the sitcom “Suits,” is undoubtedly an intimidating personality. Even though the main protagonists are Mike Ross and Harvey Spectre, the moment Jessica enters any scene, the whole charisma moves to her side, and one cannot ignore her presence. All the men in the series have had a hard time when they encounter Jess. Even after having a lot of aggressiveness in her character, one cannot help but respect her truly. She follows the mantra of “appreciate in public and criticize in person.” One can always have Jessica’s back when they face a rough patch at work or things turn sluggish in the firm. She knows precisely when to harness and probe someone.

3. How To Get Away With Murder

Viola Davis stars as Annalise Keating, a phenomenal lawyer and also a criminal law professor at a much renowned Philadelphia university. Annalise steals the show with bold and brave characteristics, for which she is feared yet admired by her students. Annalise is sharp, self-sufficient and a confident woman. However, not much later, the viewers discover her other side of the personality as well, where she is emotional, vulnerable and a human being who suffers. Her character is shown to go through many ups and downs, but Keating has always maintained her calm and faced it like a boss. She is addicted to winning at whatever she does. Also, Annalise is extremely possessive and considerate of the ones she loves and can go to any extent to protect them.

4. Girl Boss

Sophia Amoruso, who plays the protagonist in the show, is the founder of the fashion brand Nasty Gal. She narrates her success story to the viewers of starting her own business. And it’s pretty exciting to see her journey throughout the season wherein she goes through a whole transition of being a badass to a woman with poise. Sophia’s character depicts her undying efforts to take her business on top, which shows the character’s immense courage. Often, Sophia is seen as a ruthless, who isn’t always trying to fit in and gets rude sometimes to prove her point. However, that is what purposely has been a trait about her character, as no one is perfect in real life and sometimes people should be treated harshly for them to realize that they have crossed the line.
5. Game of Thrones

Daenerys Targaryen is indeed one of the most robust and most influential characters of the entire series. She is the mum of three dragons and one of the primary contenders for the Iron Throne, around which the story centres. Daenerys was initially shown delicate and frail; however, with the progression of the seasons, she evolved into a confident, headstrong, and self-assertive woman. She comes out as a fearless leader and proves to be a great one. Her ability to learn, adapt and master the skills even after striving often is commendable. She is a blend of arrogance and sentiment both, who knows precisely when to portray what emotion. The viewers love her for her personality, but it’s not hard to tell when she suffers in silence and about performing her duty and following her heart. Daenerys is a perfect example of the “One Woman Army.”
6. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

Sabrina is a character who every girl can easily relate to. She is a loyal friend and a loving girlfriend. She is high spirited, quite popular in school and is super-duper kind and compassionate to others’ feelings. With this, she is not afraid to speak up in favour of equality for women in society. She has the guts to speak up to the person straight, who demeans her friends based on their gender. As an individual she possesses a prominent ability to resist the pain and torture that she faces in the magic and the real world.

7. Orange Is The New BlackKate Mulgrew impersonates the fierce and jackass character of Red, who is a Russian prisoner and rules the prison’s pantry as the master chef and is metaphorically a dictator of the prison’s white people! She is talented, realistic, and incredibly compelling to operate an entire illegal smuggling business within the prison. She uses her exceptional traits to win Russian Mafia members’ admiration that even her husband is unable to win over. Red drenches her heart and soul into her protective nature, but she gets carried away by her crazy vibes on bitterness and revenge. Her downfall, though, is her obsessions itself. Red gives us a lesson “With great power comes great responsibilities”.
