Escaping from your negativities should never be an option, as it will find a way to come back. Encountering is the only option, the chances are, even if you happen to face it again, you’ll be fine!

Negativity is an emotion we all go through at some point in our existences. It is in-fact a sign of a healthy mind, where your brain can make you introspect the good and the bad memories both. I mean, what is the point of your existence if the memories and the emotions you create or have, are taken away from you, right? That makes you no less than a dummy, in that case. So, it is appropriately said, “It is amazing to feel all the emotions rather than feeling none at all”.

But regardless of how integral these emotions are to us, negativity is an emotion which can hamper our way of lives, if not taken into serious consideration. Some deal with negativity as and when they come across it, and get over it and move on; but some make it a part of their routine, they refuse to look beyond it! The one who always looks at the gloomy side, and build pre-conceived notions that ‘bad is only what will attract them’. This can be dangerous. It is a warning to your physical and mental well being. It is not normal to always consider the ‘glass half empty’. It isn’t always well enough to have pessimistic thoughts coming constantly around the clock to you.

Now, what causes negativity? Well, it either can be caused by external factors- when you are affected with the opinions and views of the people who surround you; or internal factors-when you are continuously battling with your inner thoughts maybe, because of some unpleasant experiences that you might have gone through in your personal life.

There can be major health and psychological effects which are related to our toxic thinking. It can be fatigue, chest pain, upset stomach, low immunity, heart-related problems, sleep deprivation, social withdrawal, anxiety, depression and the worst; psychological disorders.

Nonetheless, there lies a sense of relief in the midst of all these. The interesting fact is, as you have unknowingly trained your mind to see all the negatives, similarly, you can knowingly train your mind to look at all the positives too! Believe me or not, it’s a brain game!

It will require willpower, determination, and patience from your end, all in abundance. You are not allowed to give up!

Here are a few tips that will help you to overpower the constant negative thought process-

1. Identify your triggering points

You might have followed a pattern in your behaviour when you completely freak out. Instead of overthinking about it, make a list of what bothers you. It can be a bad relationship, a loss of someone near to you, or a bad experience. Once you list all of these down, think how much value it will hold in a year from now? If it will not, ask yourself, is it even worth it?

When you exercise or meditate, your body releases chemicals called endorphins. These chemicals reduce your perception of pain and also trigger a positive feeling in the body, similar to that of morphine.

Start doing more of what you love. Read, write, paint, sketch, listen to music, sing, dance, binge watch series or movies, click pictures, take up a course or do anything! Having a hobby will help make you cope better and soothe your mind. It would make you feel a lot more productive throughout the day.

4. Talk It Out

Talking to someone you trust and love is the best therapy. Let out all your fears, concerns, thoughts, views to someone you are not ashamed of being the ‘real you’. And as a result, you might end up getting a piece of great advice!

5. Power of Positive Thinking

It might sound pushy, but will have lasting effects on your way of thinking. Try to dominate the positives and try leaving behind the negatives. Start considering the ‘glass half full’. Find at least one good thing that happened to you in a day, even if it was awful and write it down in your journal daily. Soon you will realise how far have you come just by putting the bad thoughts away.

6. Don’t Try to Escape Past

The biggest mistake you can commit is to try to forget the past. No! Instead, face it, and keep it in your memory to visit it again in some time and say out loud, that you conquered that negative emotion. Escaping should never be an option, to be able to face is!

To conclude; I know it is ‘easier said than done’. But I also know, nothing can be impossible, especially this! Make it a point to appreciate what you have, the people you are thankful for, keep away from toxic people and know that you are worthy! Remember, ‘There’s light at the end of the tunnel’. And you will get over it.

To all the brave people out there who have been trying really hard to keep themselves strong every day, more power to you! If you think this blog was helpful to you in some way, keep tight, as we have a lot more similar content which can be of immense help to you!
