A travel blogger does not always enjoy wonderful trips to someone else’s dime. There is some, in fact, a great deal of struggle in the initial period. But once the person gets hold over the process of travel blogging, it starts getting better.

How Do Travel Bloggers Make Money?

The first thought that comes to an individual’s mind after hearing the words ‘travel blogger’ is paid trips to exotic locations, checking-in to luxurious hotels, savoring delectable cuisine, extravagant photo shoots and all things worthy of that perfect social media post. However, not all of it is true reality. Travel bloggers have to deal with a number of issues in order to get that perfect social media post, finance being on top of the list.

Not all trips are paid for. Not all stays are sponsored by hotels and the food and photoshoot bills are definitely not part of the package. So then, how do these travel bloggers earn money, you might want to know. Let me tell you, writing blogs, especially travel blogs are not your answer for quick money minting and it definitely is not the perfect dream job if you do not believe in the virtues of hard work and dedication.

A travel blogger does not always enjoy wonderful trips to someone else’s dime. There is some, in fact, a great deal of struggle in the initial period. But once the person gets hold over the process of travel blogging, it starts getting better. There is no such thing as successful travel blog writing, but if you love what you do and your work is being recognized by others, then your job is half done. The other half of the job, however, is when it comes to earning money and handling the finances. There are several ways to earn money while you follow your passion for traveling and exploring the world around you. Some of them have been listed below:

They Attract Traffic On Their Blogs

The best travel bloggers in the business have a combined approach while making money through blogging. They instantly set the ball rolling and grow their income over time. Getting traffic on their blog page is the key to making money. The more readers they have for their blog, the better the chances of earning a higher amount. These travel bloggers put up their personal experiences and travel stories into words in order to get visitors for their blogs, effectively.

However, the key to attracting eyes for the blog is to write blogs that people want to read and which is of some value to them. This is where a travel blogger’s ability to engage his readers to his work is tested. Successful bloggers know what they are doing. They know that Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Keyword Search (KWR) are essentially what get visitors and the visitors’ credit cards to their blog.

Social Media Is Their Best Friend

Sometimes pure traffic is not the only answer to finance. What a travel blogger does in order to make money is that he gets the visitors to successfully relate to what they are reading. The essence of that relatable factor will help the travel blogger a great deal because that is what will make those readers share it with other friends of theirs. And we all know how that works — through social media!

Lots of great content and a proper basis for social networking will eventually lead to successful reviews and an even better social media networking base. Email subscriber lists work best as well. Travel bloggers do not put up a post on social media only for the likes. These posts go beyond that. They understand the concept of that post in terms of pleasing and attracting subscribers and also in terms of building their own reputation for attracting people to spend their money on something worthy of it.

They Find Multiple Income Streams Essential

Writing travel blogs is all about the quality of the content and the user’s satisfaction. This increases the traffic on one’s blog which in turn, increases the chances of gaining finances. However, it is always better to have other options that are most probably used by travel bloggers who want to boost their financial gains. Some bloggers supplement their income by selling e-books and photographs and articles to magazines and publication houses or through advertising certain products.

However, most of the travel bloggers find helpful during their initial days is setting up a Google AdSense account, joining affiliate schemes and setting up Amazon sales pages. What AdSense does is that it turns the traffic on the blogger’s website to money by installing adverts. In simple words, the blogger earns some commission whenever a visitor sees an advertisement, chosen by Google, which is tailored for the reader, on the blogger’s account and also earns some extra money if the readers click on the advertisements.

This happens only when the content is not only long in terms of word count but is also engaging enough for the readers to visit the account. It also helps in gaining a higher Google ranking for the blog. On the other hand, affiliate links are sale links to commercial websites. It works when a blogger recommends and advertises certain products and the visitor then purchases any of those products via that advertisement. This is when the blogger earns a commission on the purchase cost.

Advertising On Websites And Social Media

There are thousands of affiliate programs out there that are run either by big companies or by one of their agencies.

Travel bloggers are always on the lookout for advertisers who would be interested in buying an advert on their site. However, this happens only after the blogger has been successful in achieving a wide number of readers for his blog. This method of making money does not work immediately after one starts travel blogging but takes a certain period of time to settle up as a travel blogger.

Social media advertising, on the other hand, is more effective and easier to execute, mostly because of its huge user base. Advertisers pay the bloggers to share their reviews about that particular brand’s products with thousands of other Instagram, Facebook and Twitter followers. The income varies from brand to brand and sometimes the payment received from those brands also depends on the number of followers that a travel blogger has.

These are some of the many ways through which a travel blogger earns a living. For travel bloggers, travel blogging is not always about the money, the sponsored trips or the number of likes on the social media post, but it definitely is always about the experiences gathered while exploring new places and creating quality content out of that experience. But most importantly, it is about their readers’ appeasement. It is essential for travel bloggers to keep their readers thoroughly engaged and interested in their blogs.
