The imbalance between work life and personal life has been exacerbated by the lockdown. The blurring lines have now started to take a toll on our stay at home. If you too are wondering how to make the most of your stay at home this summer, this article is for you.
With the summers turning up the heat, staying at home with a total work-life mess is taxing for most. And miss not to praise the travel restrictions for being a cherry on the bitter cake! So how do we strike a balance? How do we enjoy Summers (at least partially)? And how do we even do that by staying at home? Answers to all of these questions and much more is elaborated in the texts that follow.
How To Strike A Balance Between Work and Personal Life?
The pandemic and its consequences have either made us less productive or too involved in work. In the long run, neither of the two can be considered beneficial. Thus, it is more than necessary to strike a balance between work and personal life when all of it is from the premises of your home.
Here are some practicable tips that you can apply to yourself with minor adjustments.
● Know What You Do!
It’s ineffective to plot a schedule and work on it unless you know your day in and out. Make a list of how you spend your day in general. Mark everything from the number of hours you work to the number of hours you binge watch on Netflix.
● Prioritize What’s Important.
Well, now that you know what you have been doing and what you need to do, prioritize what’s important. If your work or studies take up 7–8 hours a day, find a way to not take it beyond or less than that timeframe.
● Set Up A Space.
This is the most common but effective tip to implement in a work from home scenario. Set a space distinct from where you would usually spend your time relaxing. This doesn’t have to be a fancy Pinterest-y workspace, just a corner or a room would do.
● Avoid Making Your Family Your Colleagues.
It is not unusual to discuss your work life challenges with family members especially when you’re working from home. However, this might grow toxic after a point of time as the times are sensitive. Thus, avoid discussing work post work hours at home.

How To Make The Most Of Your Stay At Home Summer?
Needless to say, summers can be taxing and relaxing at the same time. The typical summer vibes would play all tricks from the books to get you off work and/ or studies. However, if you are like most of us, you can’t possibly compromise on either.
Then, am I saying we should ditch the summer fun this year? Absolutely not. In fact, why not create something innovative for Summers 2021? Let’s take a look at the ways we can actually make this Summer memorable excluding the pandemic.
● Reconnect With Your Old Self.
If you are someone who has been working for a few years now, it’s time to take a break! If that’s not viable, take an hour out from your hectic schedule and reconnect with yourself. Try free- writing or taking a walk by the park or even your terrace. Reflect on how far you’ve come and think of the little things you always wanted to do but forgot.
● Make A List Wishlist For Your Old Self.
Now that you know of the things, make a list of those little things. It could have been learning a new language or cooking a new dish or even recording a song. Here’s how you can reconnect with your inner child better.
● Don’t Stop There!
Well even if you can’t go out, try leveraging technology and digitization for all things possible.
Record that song, read that book, cook that dish or just catch a fish (virtually).
● Make Your Weekends Count.
If you are a freelancer or an entrepreneur, try to be strictly away from work on weekends. Use your weekends for yourself, your family members and your friends. If not physically, cherish your weekends digitally but together.
● Embrace The Intangible.
If you aren’t already meditating, it’s time you introduce yourself to meditation. A month of meditation for 10 minutes a day can reflect evidently on your life. If you’re a beginner, you may read this article to learn the basics of meditation.
Read a book, be it a fiction or simply self-help, you will definitely gain knowledge and that will make you feel better. Mark my words!
