The Funniest Comedy Shows on Netflix and Amazon for a Dose of Laughter
Here are a few comic show suggestions for you to enjoy your not-so-fun days when you are practicing social distancing. We have got to keep the smiles up, don’t we?
Comedy is a life situation where one triumphs over life’s adversity and it’s high time that we lean to comedy so as to learn how to beat the blues and find strength personally, politically and socially.
In a lighter note, comedy brings laughter and eventually a happy vibe inside us. Let’s share giggles and roll on the floor laughing, and I am talking legit ROFL moments this time.
Want a cop-com? Rom-com? Sit-com? A horror comedy? A mockumentary? Check, check, check. You got it!
Here is a list of hilarious comedy pieces to give you laughter kicks!
1. The Office
Deriving inspiration from an award-winning British comedy of the same name, the American version is available on Amazon Prime.
If you ever had a cringe moment in your office with your boss or work or both, this is just the right thing for you! A day at a typical office via the lens of a documentary maker bringing out the idiosyncrasies of office employees.
2. Parks and Recreation
An act of compassion goes a long way and so does a comedy (of compassion). Aside from all the gibberish we often hear about idealism, Leslie’s optimism is what we need in today’s world even if it may seem a bit difficult to digest.
Parks and Recreation make you believe that if you stand by your work and beliefs, both your government and your life can be good and bring positive results. Passion is a prerequisite and an undying hunger for waffles!
3. Brooklyn 99
An all-inclusive cop-comedy is a super hilarious com drama with a great deal of laughter and bizarre romantic moments; to be honest, life is weird, bizarre yet a fun ride to be on.
Want a queer captain? Or a man who subverts masochism and cries in his office when he is hurt? Done, done and done. Brooklyn 99 has all the right reasons and claims your attention. You will know why we love this cop-comedy in the very first few episodes.
4. Sex Education
Here is a mother-son duo trying to talk things out, majorly trying to break the stigma circling sex. Playing around the high-school roles of the 80s, the comedy has right punches and is spot on.
Sex is a storehouse for comedy and never runs out of good content. Otis, the central character of the show runs an underground sex-therapy ring while juggling with his overwhelming experiences at home. Watch to learn a few handy and important takes on sex and high school drama.
5. The Comeback
A perfect mockumentary featuring Lisa Kudrow, a sitcom superstar from all-time favorite F.R.I.E.N.D.S. It depicts the comeback of a once-famous star on a small screen.
The tone is highly comical but is also scathing, which highlights the trouble of aging stars. It was canceled after the first season was aired but made a hit comeback after its relaunch in 2014 and dealt with misogyny and sexism with great wit and humor.
6. Modern Family
Atypical family with the most diverse relatives ever! A divorced grandpa who remarries a Columbian woman, a stepfather, gay dads, adopted children, modern family is a full house drama and I am betting my time here. Totally worth watching and gives you major family goals.
The Pritchett family at the center serves to be the glue that holds the entire family together, seems relatable? No? Well, meet Pritchett children. I am sure you will relate to them!
7. Sleepy Hollow
A horror comedy for the goofy fans in the house. The protagonist is sent to a remote town named Sleepy Hollow to investigate bizarre murders. Not meant for children but adults can definitely find laughing gigs in a headless horseman’s tale.
These shows need your minimal time involvement. You won’t find it difficult to laugh at the punches offered. May I suggest you have these light comic series running in the background while you work from home? It’s fun, you can try it! My all-time favorite F.R.I.E.N.D.S is always on, makes me focused while I work or even cook!
