We are excited to step in 2022, aren’t we? There are certain things we must do as we begin the year 2022 on a happier and a positive note. Let us take a look at them.

This week, we bid goodbye to 2021. The year has even been tough and tumultuous for so many of us. But even in the troubling times, we have made good memories and learned a few lessons. We got to know how to take life with a pinch of salt and move forward. At the end of our struggles and triumphs, we have arrived in January 2022, where even with omicron worries looming in the air, we did everything to make 2021 end with hope and joy.

Our phones and virtual note pads might be filled with resolutions and promises. After all, a New Year means a clean slate. We can dream and take the step to improve ourselves. But as we welcome 2022, there are certain things we need to keep in mind.

So here is a list of things one should do as they begin 2022

1) Buy a journal

Since you plan to improve and make yourself a better person in 2022, a journal will help you move towards that path. You can express your feeling and trepidations in the journal. Whatever accomplishments and failures you make on the road to bettering yourself, you can track it. The journal will act as a road map to reflect on your actions and move ahead.

2) Not Holding Enmity

The year 2021 taught us that life is too short. In the pandemic, we lost our friends, family, and neighbours. Instead of holding grudges and bittering ourselves by wishing ill luck to others, we should let those feelings go. Forgiving and forgoing should be the mantra to suck the bitterness out of you so that the negative emotions you have for someone are gone.

3) Fixing things

Another thing we learned in 2021 is that time is short, and whatever is left, we can attempt to fix things in life, especially if that thing is too precious and worthy in our lives. This thing can be your job, your marriage, friendship, etc. You can let go of your ego and fix the broken relationships. Even if it does not work, at least you do not have to think- ‘what if it could be fixed in the future.

4) Let go of jealousy

Envy leads to wrath and negativity. Instead of feeling jealous and trying to sabotage somebody’s fortune, we should try to better ourselves so that we can also shine. Be it luck or hard work, the person with good fortune has earned it. Therefore, instead of self-pity and jealousy, you can learn from the other person’s success and forge your own path.

5) It is okay if you do not want to make resolutions

Sometimes it is okay to mop around and process the grief. Allow yourself to feel sad than be trapped in the rabbit hole of toxic positivity. Sadness is a part of life, and you need to be okay with it before moving forward. So if you do not have a plan of what to do next year, it is entirely okay.

6) Hug your loved ones

Hug your family, partner, pet, and maybe even your colleague. A hug can fix a bad day. It makes you warm and less lonely. Through hugging someone, we can make someone feel good and loved. And what better way it can be to end 2021 than helping others feel loved and wanted.

7) Have gratitude

The universe values gratitude. So whatever good or bad thing you receive from the universe in 2021, be grateful for it. Be humbled and graceful in your struggles instead of cribbing about it. Understand that your good misfortune might not last forever, and sooner or later, you will get bountiful blessings and luck.

End 2021 with good wishes and good karma. Take responsibility for your past mistakes and work on them instead of escaping them. Work hard on your goals rather than feeling jealous. And lastly, prioritize your happiness and mental health rather than compromising it for others.

So are you all set for 2022?
