GenZ has taken over the world by their ease of using technology and the immense potential they have to create their own, unique culture. Read on to find out how they are doing it.

With over 77 million members worldwide, Generation Z is simply here to take the stage. Aged between 15 and 20, they are redefining progressive movements as well as religion and popular culture.

They are the first generation for whom social media and technology has become a way of life. There’s no avoiding it; these people have grown up with all sorts of technology, and they’re making use of it each and every day.

Now that Generation Z has come into the world, specifically in regard to the COVID-19 virus outbreak, this will be a pivotal point in their lives during which they can come to see that certain attitudes might just be unnecessary amongst their peers outside of their technological bubble (and inside as well) due to so many different good things having been made possible by technology.

According to a 2019 Bloomberg report, GenZ made up for 32% of the global population, with India’s GenZ population at 472 million. This generation known for its self-reliance was raised by millennials during what seems like a tumultuous youth revolution. When it comes to business, this group born seemingly in the middle of a perfect storm will opt for skills over paycheque when they finally enter the workforce and have little patience for societal norms or parental approval and yet they are growing up at the time of great economic turmoil globally.

Moreover, the pandemic has had a significant impact on everyone who deals with it. Some people have been better able to continue their lives as they’re used to, while others are struggling more than usual. Roohi, a 20-year-old student, finds some hope in the bad times by staying one step ahead of the virus. She is catching up with friends online that she hasn’t spoken to in a while. The conversations between her and her friends are more frequent and their social media presence is more active and consistent now that they can connect with people from all around the world. She adds that even at work, communication has increased because calls need to be made for long periods of time for advice on how to deal with this pandemic.

Also, it will not be fair to claim that GenZ is difficult to work with simply because they’re stubborn- after all, we all have our own independent mindsets. There’s a range of differences between generations, and every generation has a few differentiating factors that set them apart from their predecessor: For one thing, the new generation loves technology- mobile phones are an essential part of their lives. While the Millennials too had to adapt to technology, for GenZ, social media is something inherent to them; it comes with little effort and is somewhat ingrained within their character. They insist on going through the basics of each site before jumping in headfirst into deep learning!

In fact, many youngsters today are financially stable and can choose from a lot of different career options instead of sticking to conventional law or engineering. In addition to these fields, internships have become available for different talents including art, music, theatre and sports and they realize that these are important too.

Additionally, they do not accept anything on its face value whether it is religion, culture or education. It’s a generation, which is focused more on better services than products. They are also greatly aware of their environment. They are open-minded and are willing to correct the mistakes of our previous generations. For example, the climate emergency movement mostly consists of the younger generation- 20-year-olds that are willing to make changes in their lifestyles and also rectify the mistakes of our ancestors.

Conclusion:

While these youngsters might appear a little insecure, they aren’t afraid to let everyone know what they want — and what they deserve! They want the opportunity to take risks and think outside the box while remaining responsible for their actions. They are truly all about work-life balance and won’t wait until they are ‘married’ to go sky-diving just because ‘their elders’ told them so!
